[Athrun doesn't like this one bit.
When he had gone to bed, it had been in his own bed, in his own house. But when he woke up, he found himself in an unfamiliar condo in some kind of a resort town. None of the locals had ever heard of Orb, and for whatever reason, it was being treated as if he lived there. The only sign that something else was up was a note he had found on the kitchen table, saying that there would be someone he knew here that he needed to meet.
So now, Athrun is walking up and down the street on which "his" condo is located, eyes scanning for familiar faces.
But, as it would turn out, that someone was behind him, in his blind spot. And she would see him first.]

[Athrun clenches his fists and looks down again.]
But I...I didn't...I couldn't...when I could have...
[Even now, he still blames himself for what happened.]

[That causes Athrun to pause. He keeps falling into self-blame, so he can't imagine how Meer must feel about this. Especially with what he's said so far.]
I. I-I'm sorry. Everything is just...so overwhelming right now.

The food here is really great! Probably not as great as some of the places you've tried but I still like it here.
no subject
Well, if that's the case, then...get what you want. I can pick up the tab.

Eh? You have money from this world with you, Athrun?

1/2
I suppose that's true.

Athrun? That man ... at the Archangel? The man with Ms Lacus. They seem really close.
Who is he?
[ She meant Kira. ]

[Pause.]
You might know him better as the pilot of first the Strike, then the Freedom.
no subject
[ She had heard of the Strike of course. And the Chairman had told her of the trouble the Freedom had been causing for their forces. ]
Why is Ms Lacus with him? Isn't she your fiancee?
no subject
Not for two years now. My father terminated the engagement late into the First Bloody Valentine War. Chairman Durandal chose to overlook that fact, since my father hadn't had the time to make it official.

[ Pause. ]
Oh ... so no wonder ...
I see now. I must have looked ridiculous to you when I insisted about our --- I mean your engagement with Ms. Lacus.
no subject
Not really. It was part of the act, so it was something that would have been called into question if you had chosen not to pursue it.

I do like you. I like you very much ...

He props his head up with his right hand and looks down at the table.]
Somehow...I'm not as surprised as I ought to be. I...I don't know what to say. My mind is just...it's a complete mess right now...

It's okay. It's not what is important now anyway.

[And it's at this time that the food arrives.]
