[You were being heckled by a group of people -- most likely soldiers, or someone else who thinks they have the run of the place. Suddenly, though, that all stopped, as this young man appeared between you and your tormentors.]

Do you really think you can fight me and walk away under your own power? Take a closer look at my sword, because I'm sure you'll recognize it. The Mystletainn hungers, and your blood will sate its appetite quite nicely!

[For whatever reason -- battle, bodyguard, what have you -- you've been partnered up with Ares. When you reach the rendezvous point, you notice he's already there, mounted upon a black horse.]

So you're my new partner? All right, fine. I look forward to seeing what you're capable of.

[Battle time! Ally? Enemy? Your call.]

I hope you've made peace with your gods, because now that you've met me, you can forget remaining on this mortal coil! You'll regret ever challenging the Black Knight!

[Time to relax after a long day! You're seated next to Ares, who's taking a swig from some kind of drink. Care to strike up a conversation?]

Lockon stepped over a prone, cloaked body as he quietly made his way around the outer wall of the Yied Shrine. Sneaking into the grounds had been easy enough, but within the place was swarming with Lopt mages. Luckily, nobody had seen the light that Zabanya had produced when Lockon had blasted the cultist whose body he had just stepped over. Quickly, he made his way to the back.

But why was Lockon in such a place to begin with? Well, after Lachesis's disappearance, Lockon had been doing his own private investigating into her whereabouts. He knew that she had managed to escape a trap set in Belhalla, then fled to Leonster to find her sister-in-law and nephew; and after that, set out for Isaach, but disappeared along the way. Then, he had come across another rumor while he was traveling through the Manster District, a rumor he had been told about during a conversation with a particular priest. Allegedly, the Lopt cult was in possession of a powerful tome of dark magic, a unique flavor that could petrify whomever it struck. Furthermore, apparently some of these people were warriors who had fallen into the trap at Belhalla, and that they were being kept in a chamber beneath the Yied Shrine.

It was simple enough for Lockon to put two and two together. After running multiple plans of action through Veda, they had come up with one that seemed most likely to work. And thus, here he was, ducking behind corners and blasting anyone who spotted him with concentrated GN Particles. Finally, he found an entrance in the rear of the shrine, and descended down the stone steps.

Many stone steps. Lockon must have walked down five flights of stairs before the floor leveled out into a long corridor. There was nowhere left to hide; fortunately, the corridor seemed devoid of enemy mages. Lockon picked up his pace a little, until finally, he arrived at a pair of stone doors. He forced them open.

And was greeted by a group of statues.

He had come to the right place.
