PSLs
I'm looking to get more PSLs going. Memes fluctuate in quality and lack continuity, and the current crop of games do nothing for me, so I'm even more interested in getting things started than I otherwise would be.
For starters, I'm looking specifically for shipping plots. Given the characters I play, slow burn romances are more likely to happen, but if I can get them in situations where they would quickly jump into a relationship, I'm perfectly fine with that, too. When it comes to settings, I can do jamjar, AU, or various degrees of canon-welding.
Settings
Pokémon: This one is an eternal favorite of mine, and I feel like the lack of it has left a hole in my heart ever since I left Route 29/Victory Road. I have a strong preference for certain regions over others; Alola is my favorite region, followed by Kanto, Johto, and Unova. I can do Sinnoh or Paldea, but I don't have any confidence in my memories of the other regions. I favor jamjar for this setting (partly because the setting takes the lives of traumatized characters and makes them more wholesome somehow), but I can make AU work.
Gundam Build Fighters: I can't imagine how any red-blooded mecha fan could ever not love the world of Gundam Build Fighters. Being able to build Gunpla kits, kitbash them, and battle them against each other? Hell to the fuck yes. I will say that this one is limited mainly to Athrun and maybe Asemu if I can get his muse working, and strictly jamjar only here. I'd love to use the setting to have Athrun address some of his personal traumas on top of shameless shipping.
Rune Factory: Next up in the "settings that give traumatized characters therapy" list, Rune Factory is another setting I love a lot. It takes the good parts of games such as Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley and adds just enough adventure to make things more than just farming and socializing. For this one I'd stick to my more fantasy-ish characters, such as Dimitri and Bedivere.
Note that these settings are just some ideas; by no means am I limiting myself to PSLs solely in these settings. If you have other ideas, let me know and I'll be happy to consider them.
Plots
Arranged marriage: One plot I enjoy is two characters ending up in an arranged marriage together, and then falling in love with one another as they live married life together. This of course requires hammering out exactly why the arranged marriage is happening, since that kind of thing just doesn't happen without some kind of reason.
Mutual healing: Two characters who have their own individual traumas finding common ground in their trauma and bond as they work to get better. I love that. It definitely feels a lot more equal than one person with trauma just trauma-dumping on someone who isn't nearly as traumatized. It also gives both parties involved the ability to play the hurt party and the comforting party at different times.
Adventure: As you might be able to tell, I really enjoy adventure stories, and being cooped up at home for 20-ish months due to COVID-19 only amplified it. Pokémon adventures are my favorite, but I could do other kinds, and both fantasy and sci-fi are on the table.
Rescue Romance: The catalyst (or part of the story) involves one character rescuing the other character, and then keeping them safe through whatever means are necessary. This can also tie neatly into an adventure, going under cover, or things like that. I would prefer to be the rescuer, but I'm also not opposed to playing the rescued party, with the right hook.
Again, these plots are just some ideas; by no means am I limiting myself to PSLs solely with these plots. If you have other ideas, let me know and I'll be happy to consider them.
