[Ah, the joys of being a top military official. It was time for a gala that he was required to attend. The governing families would all be there, as well as the rest of the Chiefs of Staff and their spouses.

Which was why Athrun was waiting in the living room, waiting for Sheryl to get ready. He was in full dress regalia, every medal he'd earned pinned to his jacket. He didn't like dressing this way, but it was expected of him.]

[ Sheryl sighed as she walked down the stairs. She looked ready but very unimpressed by their agenda for tonight. ]

I will tell you now that I don't enjoy spending my evenings rubbing elbows with old men who think they know how the world should run.

And neither do I. Unfortunately, duty calls for this sometimes.

[Athrun tries to offer Sheryl his most reassuring smile.]

Besides, we'll be there together, right? Even in this kind of a situation, we can keep each other company.

I have my conditions though. We don't stay long ... and you promise to let me have you all to myself when all this is over.

I think I'm going to want a photo, though. I don't want to pass up the opportunity while you're wearing a dress.

I'm surprised. All this time I thought you preferred having it off. [ Teasing, Athrun. As usual. ]

[ Sorry, Athrun. She is laughing her head off now. ]

Okay, okay, enough jokes, it's time to go!

[He reaches out to place his hands on her shoulders and force her out the door.]

[ Still laughing, she allows him to force her into the car. ]

How are Kira and Lacus?

[Once Sheryl is in, Athrun gets into the driver's seat and buckles up before starting the engine.]

Same as always, pretty much. They've been busy with rebuilding, but that didn't come as much of a surprise to me.
