[Why do things just keep getting more and more strange?
The first time, Athrun woke up on the front lawn of an unfamiliar house in an even more unfamiliar neighborhood. Then he'd been whisked home. This time, he found himself in the bed of another strange house. And the less said about "Mom," the better. Athrun's mother was dead. She had been dead for nearly four years, and she would remain dead until the end of time. Athrun had already made his peace with that.
Athrun had spent some time wandering through this town -- Pallet Town, according to the sign across the street from the house in which he had woken up ("Shades of your journey await!") -- looking for a building belonging to this "Professor Oak" fellow. Eventually he found the Oak Pokémon Research Lab. He entered and looked around, but couldn't locate its namesake anywhere. Figuring he must be out and about somewhere, Athrun decided to leave. He opened the door...]
...Uh.
[And found himself face-to-face with someone he knew.]

Lets get this badge-thing over with.

[He tenses a bit when she grabs his hand, but that's about it.]
Hopefully we can get there before sundown. I'd rather not have to sleep outdoors if I can avoid it.
no subject
Right. Walking. We have to walk.
{ Well, at least she wasn't wearing one of her good heels. But it didn't make her feel any better. }

[They leave the lab and start heading back toward the tall grass.]

H-HEY! That's not what I meant and you know it!
no subject
And I suppose you want to share a room to economize.

2/2
...We have a huge problem.
Money.

[He pulls out his wallet to see how much he as, except...]
Hey, wait a minute. I don't recognize these bills. Do you?
[He pulls out a bill marked "100." The currency symbol looks similar to the yen symbol, except it's a P instead of a Y.]
1/2
2/2
No. I've never seen them before.
no subject
Then let's talk about that! That's most important at this moment!
[Athrun, lower your voice.]
How much do you have? I have about sixty thousand of...whatever currency this is. Maybe about 500 dollars' worth?
[Assuming this currency is analogous to the yen.]

The same pittance unfortunately.
no subject
Pittance or not, this should at least get us some supplies and a night or two in a hotel. Then we can figure out how to earn more.
But that's assuming that my guess about its value is correct.

{ This was really troublesome. Adjusting from one world to another. It was already annoying when she had to get used to not having her favorite clothes and doing her own laundry in the last world.
But not only did she have to do her own laundry in this world --- they needed to do a lot of walking.
... but she'll survive. She always did. She's been through much worse. She will get through it since she is Sheryl Nome. }

[And no sooner did they walk into the tall grass than a pair of large, purple rats show up and block their path.]
--way.
...Figures.
no subject
It looks like you're up.
{ Sorry Athrun. She has no plans going against gigantic rats. }
no subject
Surely you don't expect me to fight them two-against-one.
no subject
It was only a joke.
no subject
This shouldn't be that hard... OK, Charmander, attack it!
[Charmander just looks at Athrun, confused.]
Er, attack the nearest rat with something! Nails, tail, teeth, something!
[Charmander nods, then runs at the nearest Rattata. It takes a swipe at it with its nails, leaving scratch marks on the Rattata's face.]
