So, it's no secret that I love shipping. However, I have not always been clear on the kinds of dynamics I look for when I get into a ship. So I'm going to come up with a list of the types of relationship dynamics I especially love with each of my active muses, starting with those in games, then going from my most active muse to my least active muse.

Name: Athrun Zala
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (Destiny)

What I'm Looking For
Tsunderes - Athrun gets along great with tsunderes, partly because he has the patience needed to deal with them and partly because he's capable of snarking about what they say and do. As a matter of fact, one of his two canon relationships (the one based on emotion, not the arranged one) was with a tsundere, and it lasted for roughly two years! Additionally, bonus points if the tsundere is blonde, because guess what the aforementioned tsundere's hair color is?

Idol Singers - This one started as an accident, then turned into a running gag, thanks to

route_29. There's just something about Athrun that makes him a magnet for idol singers. Most of the time, he's also a lot of fun to play off them, too. Like with tsunderes, there's some canon basis for this one -- the girl he used to be engaged to used to be an idol singer, and her body double in Gundam SEED Destiny adored him as well.

Compassion and Support - Not only is Athrun the main character of a Gundam series, he also has the distinction of being one of few characters to star in more than one Gundam series. Therefore, he has some very serious issues regarding his past -- especially when you consider the fact that he hails from the darkest alternate universe timeline. Someone who can support him through all of his problems, who can show him compassion and care when he needs it, would be a wonderful fit for him and something I would very much love to play out. (As a matter of fact, my crossover OTP involves Athrun and one such girl.) Even if the other person requires Athrun himself to support her with her own issues, it would definitely work.

Tech Nerds - Athrun loves anything to do with physical science or programming, and someone to geek out about that stuff with would be great. She could be more into technical stuff, or she could be a gamer chick -- doesn't matter.

Spontaneity - Athrun copes by pouring all of his attention into his job. And with being a high-ranking officer comes paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork. He needs someone to make his life a little bit more lively and spontaneous. A girl who likes to have fun, a girl who loves to tease him, a girl who's just plain out there -- all work beautifully with him.

Series: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn
Age: 20-21

NOTE: There isn't much here because Ike himself isn't that interested in romance. It takes a very specific set of circumstances to make it work.

What I'm Looking For
Nobility - I love irony. And irony would be no more delicious than Ike ending up with a noblewoman. He's wonderful to play off nobles, both of the kindhearted, straightforward type and of the haughty yet kind type. And the threads I've had involving him and a certain person's Maribelle...glorious. Simply glorious.

Kindness - Really, Ike is great with any girl who has a lot of kindness to spread. Simple as that.

NOTE: Lockon is a special case in that his last relationship ended in tragedy (read the "Innovator Deception" and "Anew Returns" segments of his Wiki page for more details) and that his heart hasn't moved on from that relationship, so that will be a major obstacle to overcome to make any romance happen between him and another woman.

What I'm Looking For
Undaunted Love - One thing that I believe will work well is a case of a woman who just loves Lockon to the point that she doesn't care about the wall Lockon has built around his heart. Any woman capable of loving a man to that degree and being charming about it would be wonderful to play him against.

Similar Experiences - The case of the one relationship I have gotten to fully play out with him was a case in which the woman involved had suffered a similar experience. So for the two of them, it was a mutual healing process that they helped each other through, and fell in love through that. That was quite possibly the most fun building a ship I've ever had, and I'd be eager to do something similar in the future.

What I'm Looking For
Tsunderes - Asemu has the most amazing CR with tsunderes, it's incredible. Asemu is endlessly confused by tsunderes, because he just does not get how they think and act. And Asemu is a much sweeter guy than Athrun is, which creates an even more different dynamic.

No Sense of Self - Asemu's primary motivation is the safety and happiness of his friends. Therefore, a person who always puts others before themselves would lead to a very interesting dynamic, because she'd keep putting herself in harm's way regardless of what he does, forcing him to step in again and again. And he'd just have to keep trying to get through to her until she understands that putting others before herself is also putting others before him.

Ice Queens - As I mentioned above, Asemu is actually a fairly sweet guy. And he'd definitely be one of the best options for defrosting ice queens. He's very big on friends, and he'd try to make friends with anyone who seems aloof or lacks social skills because everyone deserves friends. And it would just run from there.

Tease - Asemu is very easy to tease. He's a bit awkward when out of his element, and when that's the case, proves highly susceptible to teasing and delivers very amusing reactions. (In canon, he gets snapped out of a BSOD by a slap on the ass.) So teasing? Definitely a great way to get things going.

Name: Zeheart Galette

Age: 18-19 (he's chronologically 41, but he spent 25 years in cold sleep)

NOTE: Zeheart is the newest muse on this list, and recently resurrected, so I haven't had as much time to think about him as the others.

What I'm Looking For
Compassion and Support - Zeheart is the one person on this list who has more issues than Athrun. Hell, he's got enough issues to fill up a supertanker. If he's to end up in a relationship, he virtually needs someone who's willing to support him through his issues, because holy hell does he ever need it.

Spontaneity - Like his best friend turned rival above, Zeheart is a lot of fun to play when he's confused by others' antics. Also, spontaneity helps to keep him occupied, which is something he needs due to his excess baggage.

What I'm Looking For
Religious Piety - I love, love, LOVE playing Ky off characters who are as religious as he is. It always makes for really interesting interactions. Fellow Christians, especially Catholics, are the best for this, but followers of other religions work well, too.

World-Weariness - Ky works surprisingly well with world-weary characters. His idealism and virtue tends to make him extra appreciated by these characters , and can even give them a bit of their spark back.

Naivete - Bizarrely, Ky works really well with characters who are even more naive than he is. It really helps that he's generally an earnest guy, and seeks to help them rather than take advantage of their naivete or make fun of them for it. Sometimes this turns into really cute scenes.

Dizzy - There is a disappointing lack of this romance on-screen in the canon. Let's fix that.

Anyway, we discussed Lockon and Naomi and long-developing relationships a while back. I'm still up for this if you are!

But yes, I'm still definitely up for it! I'm just debating on what kind of scenario to use.

Of the two you proposed, "similar experiences" sounds like a good bet for these two if I'm understanding you right! Not sure what to do setting-wise, but in terms of timeline/relationship maybe say early in?

Yep, that was my thought, too. The only problem is establishing a setting, which is what I've been drawing a blank on.

Can you tell me more about Lockon's world/setting? Naomi's is pretty plain, aside from the superdiseases/magic powers and the fact that people cured cancer and whatnot - maybe a merge wouldn't be too bad.

Lockon's setting is Earth in the 24th century. Energy crises are a thing of the past due to a system built on an orbital ring to harness solar power for the entire planet. Medical science has also advanced a lot, to the point where humans can use stem cells to fully regenerate lost or otherwise irreparably damaged body parts. There's also a phenomenon of those possessing a special kind of brain wave pattern (known as quantum brainwaves) "awakening" when brought into contact with GN Particles (a byproduct of a solar power engine) into Innovators, which have enhanced spatial awareness, can communicate with others using quantum brainwaves, and have extended lifespans.

Politically, things have been nuts. In 2307, the world was divided into power blocs, until an armed organization known as Celestial Being went public and declared that they would eradicate war. They then performed armed interventions in conflicts around the globe, ultimately angering everybody and uniting them against them. A joint UN force was able to crush CB in a huge battle in space in 2308, then formed a united government.

But that government had an autonomous peacekeeping force that conducted itself about as ethically as the SS did. So CB licked its wounds, got back on its feet, and crushed the peacekeeping force, forcing the government to change hands and transition from a police state to a free state.

Then in 2314, aliens arrived in the solar system and tried to assimilate Earth and everything and everyone from it. CB figured out a way to communicate with them and stopped that in its tracks, though, so there's a bit of peaceful integration there.

...Well, that sounds like fun.

Like I thought, Trauma Center's setting can probably be integrated into this pretty easy. The most important thing would be Delphi's existence - maybe say they were causing trouble a few years ago but have since been dealt with, as in canon. (And okay I really want Naomi's adopted daughter to be in the picture too because I so rarely get to play private mom Naomi, but that shouldn't be too hard.) Would an American setting work? Canonically Naomi does research/forensics work in Maine, but I can play with that if needed.

Maine would be perfect! Lockon's originally from Ireland, so he prefers maritime climates. I was thinking that maybe it could attract his attention because she/whomever she's working for is researching medicine and the like for Innovators, since Celestial Being has a vested interest in them.

Technically Naomi's retired from medicine at this point, but she's at least capable of it again and I can always handwave that as "needed for a case" since it wouldn't be the first time the government twisted her arm. Does that work for you?
