[It's morning. Sunlight is filtering in through the hospital room window as birds sing outside. Arashi may recall what happened the previous night, with the wound she suffered, and then how a young man in a giant, white robot came to her aid, without regard for whether or not she wanted it. But in the end, he did take care of the problem, and he did bring her to the hospital.

And he's sitting nearby right now, as she'll see when she opens her eyes.]

Ah, good! You're awake!

[ She wakes up feeling disoriented and groggy. Where is she...? What... happened? ]

Wh--?

[ Arashi tries to prop herself up to get a better look at the speaker, but the sudden movement makes her dizzy and she has to lie back down. ]

Whoa! Easy. You lost a lot of blood last night, so focus on resting.

[Asemu gets up out of his chair and walks over to the bed to let her get a better view of him.]

But you're gonna be all right. The doctor stitched up your wound. Are you hungry?

[ It takes a minute to remember pieces of the night before. That thing they'd been fighting, and... ]

You're...

[ The guy that was piloting that large machine. ... What does one call that thing, anyways? ]

Asemu Asuno. I fought off those things last night and pulled you into my mobile suit's cockpit. Remember?

[ A small nod. She remembers most of it. The monster, the injury... how much she'd failed. Her companions... she hadn't been there to protect them.

Thankfully, her healing abilities reduced the injuries greatly already. But frustration isn't very easy to heal. Arashi buries her head in her hands momentarily and takes a deep breath.

Finally, composing herself, she gives Asemu a grateful smile. ]

Thank you.

[Huh. He hadn't been expecting to see a smile on her face. It threw him off guard, but it was still nice. He grins sheepishly, scratching his cheek with his index finger.]

Ehe. No problem. Glad to help when you need it.

[But back to something he asked before.]

You hungry? We could call a nurse and have them ring in an order to the kitchen or something.

[ It took a lot of strength to eat, and she didn't have enough in her to do so. She gives a small shake of her head ]

No, thank you.

[ Pushing herself upright. Slowly, this time. ]

I just... need to get out of here.

[Asemu holds out a hand, fingers straight. He wants her to stop.]

No. Wait. That'll happen, but not until the doctor clears you. Be patient a little longer. Everything will be fine, I swear.

I'm--

[ ...fine.

A beat. ]

What happened? Is it over?

Er. Yeah, I took care of them all. Don't you remember?

[ A frustrated sigh as she shakes her head. No, it's all a blur. ]

I... remember bits and pieces.

[ She looks down at her hands, balling them into fists and then releasing again. Never has she felt so helpless. ]

[He doesn't miss that action. He reaches out to try to place a hand on her shoulder.]

Hey, hey, it's all right. I'm on the job for now, so just take it easy. You're not alone.

[ First reaction to the touch was a flinch. She has just enough self control not to raise her hand to block his.

You're not alone. She'd felt alone ever since arriving in this city. She'd had one purpose, and it felt as though she'd failed at that as well.

She had to find Hinoto and wait for Kamui. Had to fulfill her destiny as a Dragon of Heaven. Anything else was just a distraction. ]

Not while you're recovering. And hey, I'm with the military. It's my job to keep the Earth safe. Even if you refuse, I still have to do it.

[ A small sigh as she leans back against her pillows. She's not going to win this one. Better to just stay here until nobody is paying attention. You win this one... ]
