Yeah. That's... good. A bit surprising, but it's definitely better than nothing.

[ Though actually knowing just how much they had would be nice too. But... figuring that out would take time. ]

Want to go look around and try to find something now?

[Athrun opens his mouth to speak, but he's preempted by his stomach letting out a loud growling noise. His cheeks turn red.]

...Er. Well.

[ That got a small laugh out of Yukari, and she soon shifted herself so that she was sitting back up. ]

Okay, I guess that answers that question. Let's go. And after we eat, we should go find something for the pokémon too. I'm sure they have to be getting hungry too.

I agree. They've gone at least as long without food as we have.

... Actually, maybe we should try to see if we can get them something to eat first. I mean, they were fighting against all those pokémon for us.

Yeah, that's also a good point. We did all the walking, but they did all the battling.

[He takes his Charmander's Poké Ball off his belt and fiddles with it a little bit.]

I'm also curious to see for myself the results of that treatment they got. Are they really back to full health after just a few seconds of being in that machine?

They better be. I mean, if that nurse lied to us about it I'm going to be pretty pissed at her.

[ Now if only she could summon her persona and unleash a tornado in the pokemon center... but she should wait until she knew what was going on.

So she let her Bulbasaur out of the ball... and it looked completely fine. Yukari couldn't even tell that it had been in a fight at all. ]

Wow. You really do look good as new... [ The pokemon nuzzles up against her, and she pets it. ]

... Now, I bet you're pretty hungry, aren't you?

[Athrun stares at Yukari's Bulbasaur for a moment. It really does look like it's in peak condition.]

That's...really amazing. I wonder if there's anyone around here who knows how that device works? I've never seen anything capable of doing that in my life.

[Uh-oh. He's being distracted from the previous subject.]

[ Yukari giggled while her Bulbasaur moved to climb into her lap, but then she turned to look over at Athrun and shook her head. ]

Hey, let's get them and us fed first. Then you can go off and try to find out all of the science behind that thing that I'm not going to be able to understand.

...Ah. Yes. You're right. I'm sorry. I'm simply fascinated by new technology.

[He scratches his cheek sheepishly.]

[ Yukari nods, before scooping Bulbasaur up in her arms and making it to her feet. ]

Well, I guess I'd be pretty interested in how it worked too if I had any chance of understanding how it works... Fuuka would probably be impossible to pull away from it if she were here.

[Athrun places Charmander's Poké Ball back on his belt and leads the way out of the room.]

A friend of yours from home?

[ Yukari doesn't put Bulbasaur back in the ball just yet. It just seemed a bit... wrong to do that. ]

Yeah. She's really good with technology and machines and stuff. Something like that machine would have her interested for days... though if she were here with us, she'd probably still be asking you for more details on your giant robots.

[That gets a chuckle out of him as they walk out of the Center and into the dusk air.]

I imagine those would be popular with people from your time period. If I'm not mistaken, there was an entire sub-genre of science fiction dedicated to mobile suits, wasn't there?

Yeah. There's definitely a lot of it.

[ And they'd already talked about how likely it was for real life, so no reason to go back there. ]

Though unlike a lot of people who'd be asking you about it, she might actually be able to understand a decent amount about how those work.

It would be nice to have someone to talk to about that kind of thing more often. Back home, I really only have my best friend. But Kira and I work for two different nations now -- allied, but different.

I miss it a bit. Before I became a soldier, I was planning on becoming a mechanical engineer.

[ She knows that she should probably let the subject drop, but... part of her is still a bit too curious to go ahead and do that. ]

Well, can't you still become an engineer after you're done? It's not like you're going to stay in the military forever, right?

[He shakes his head.]

During the past four years, the nations of the world have gone to war with each other twice. Right now, I think working to maintain a lasting peace is the most important thing to do.

[ ... You and your big mouth Yukari. Way to go. ]

Sorry. I guess that was stupid of me. If... you obviously would've already thought of that idea if it was even remotely feasible.

[He shakes his head.]

It's fine. You had no way of knowing. But at this point I don't mind it being a hobby. I feel like I'm doing something worthwhile, and I can't really ask for more than that out of a career.

... I guess.

[ She sighs, not saying anything else for a few moments, just holding her Bulbasaur closer to her as they make it closer to the Pokemon center's desk. While she's thinking of something else to say to him, she'll head up to talk to the nurse about the whole food thing for her Pokemon. ]

[Athrun doesn't press Yukari to say anything, either. He waits as she goes to talk to the nurse and hear back on what she finds out.]

[ When she comes back over to Athrun, she has a bit of a smile on her face. Considering that she actually has something nicer to talk about though, it's not really that surprising. ]

Well, I guess this probably should've been pretty obvious, but getting food for our Pokemon is basically just like getting food for any other pet. So getting something that they'll be able to eat isn't going to be a problem.

[ Except for money, obviously. But... cross that bridge when they get to it, right? ]

Well, that's good. Less complicated than it could have been.

We could probably find a supermarket or something while we're out. I bet they have Pokémon food.

Sounds good to me. We should... probably try to get some stuff for us there too. I don't think it'll be a good idea for us to eat out whenever we manage to make it to a town like this.

[ Not to mention, you know, having food for when they're between towns. ]
