[Aqua's search for her friends had sidetracked her all the way to, of all places, Camelot. By now she's used to traversing magical kingdoms with shining castles, fending off Unversed, and she's sure this place is no different. Still, as she lays eyes on the white walls of the fortress city, her eyes are wide with amazement.
Perhaps inside, she could find clues to see if her friends had been here. She approaches the front gates, but is immediately stopped by a guard, who asks her to state her business, and whether she can prove she is a citizen of the kingdom. Strangers, he explains, are being turned away since a recent spate of monster attacks, and she's clearly an outsider if she didn't know even that much.]
Monsters... I think I know what you're talking about. If you could just let me in, I promise I'll do everything I can to help you all.
[The guard doesn't budge, despite her sincerity. She sighs and turns away, wondering if she should sneak in. Would that really be the right thing to do?]
[The voice of a man comes from behind the guard. Its source rounds the corner a few seconds later, as a rather tall knight, draped in a white cape, emerges. His hair is platinum blond and his eyes are a bluish green, and the rest of his facial features would be better described as "beautiful" than "handsome."
Those eyes dart back and forth, between the newcomer and the guard. Eventually, they come to a rest on Aqua as he turns the rest of his body to face her directly.]
[She turns and blinks for a few moments at the sight of... well, a knight in shining armour. Actually, his entire appearance could be considered shining, beautifully, and she realises she's staring for a second too long when she's being asked a question.
Startled, she blinks, apologetic.]
Oh--! You see, I'd like to help your kingdom. I understand if you're cautious about outsiders right now, but I promise I can prove myself.
[Bedivere thinks on the matter for a moment, and he takes a little bit of time to size up Aqua with his eyes. From what he could tell, there was nothing contradictory in her body language or simply the way she carried herself. He could also tell that she had some training as a warrior based on the shape her body appears to be in; what kind of weapon, though, he couldn't say. Perhaps some magic, then?
The last place he looks is directly into Aqua's eyes. Those, above all, seem absolutely genuine.]
Very well. I cannot guarantee you will get an audience with the king, but as his adviser, I will hear you out. Guard, please let her pass. I will take responsibility.
[The guard salutes Bedivere and responds with a simple "yes, sir" as Bedivere then turns to Aqua again.]
[She bows deeply. Audience or none, even getting this far is more than she'd expected, after that frosty reception. And after that formality, she follows after him.]
My name is Aqua. I'm from... a place far from here.
[Bedivere bows his head toward Aqua before turning to lead the way into the castle.]
You must hail from outside of Britain then, yes? I must admit, we have had little communication from across the Channel in recent weeks. I certainly hope that everything is all right in the rest of Europe.
It's an honour to meet you, Sir Bedivere. [Aqua is trying not to look too blank at the slew of titles and place names, and so she nods respectfully.]
I've travelled far and wide to battle creatures we call the Unversed, and I believe these same creatures are the ones placing your kingdom in danger. Have you encountered them yourself?
Not for myself, no. The extent of my knowledge of the creatures is limited to what scouts and survivors have reported to us. The King has not yet seen fit to dispatch any of the Knights of the Round Table.
[At this point, they reach the doors of the castle. Bedivere reaches out with both hands and pushes them wide open, leading Aqua into the entrance hall. At this time of day, there are a number of soldiers and staff going about their business in there, but they don't detract from the majesty of the castle's interior. It is every bit as awesome inside as it is outside.]
