[Well, here he was. Melemele Island. It was as far away from home as Athrun was able to get without needing a passport and a visa. And it would be his new home. He had used his father's -- no, now it was his -- money to buy a comfortable two-bedroom house in the Hau'oli suburbs. As he stands now, looking over the partially-unpacked living room, for the first time in months, he feels truly free. Here, his past and his family won't matter. He's just Athrun Zala, an aspiring Pokémon Trainer of the Alola region.
It was about then that he received a text message from Kukui. The professor had shown up to greet Athrun upon his disembarkation from the airliner that brought him here and had given him his number for later. He pulled out his smartphone and took a look:]
Meet me in the middle of Iki Town at 4:30! You and another trainer will be getting your starter Pokémon! See you there, yeah!
[Athrun set a reminder in his phone and slid it back into his pocket. Until then, he'd continue to unpack.]
[At 4:00, Athrun caught a Stoutland taxi that took him up the mountain to Iki Town. He made his way to the center of town, where the raised dais stood, and took a seat on the edge. It was 4:25, so Kukui should be there soon. Oh, and there was also that other trainer starting out, wasn't there? Well, he at least knows to keep an eye out.]
[Originally Weiss makes plans to be away from Snowpoint in Sinnoh a day earlier than this. But of course that plan backfires when her father gets in the way, thinks he can stop her and tries to force the girl one more time to stay where he can control her. No. Nonononono, she's taking none of that anymore! New plan, her stuff would arrive whenever she knows where she'll be living in the new region and she'd go ahead as fast as she can.
So her escape transportation arrives today and a lot later than she'd like it to... But at least she could get an adorable Lapras Paddle to where she's supposed to meet the professor and that other trainer, she's really, really looking so much toward that! The Lapras, that is, because that's the only thing in her mind before she'll actually get to Iki town and think about finally being free.
She's rushing to where the ride is supposed to be, only to look instantly disappointed when there's a Sharpedo Jet instead.]
That's NOT a Lapras! [Yes, she is mad!]
[Good thing there's one of the most patient and friendly people around to greet her. ...It's not even a coincidence, that she and Weiss know each other, isn't it? One more test before that tyrant would leave her alone, hopefully.] Hello, Miss Schnee. I'm afraid all of the Lapras are busy at the moment but this Sharpedo will take you to your destination in no time.
Ugh. That's not the same thing at all! Get me a Lapras, I'm not leaving here without one. [This is the worst day of her life!! (No, this is not!) ...Though there's the bad thing about those Lapras rides, she couldn't keep the Lapras herself.]
We're very sorry but that's not possible right now, Miss Schnee. Perhaps they'll be able to surf you away from Iki Town once you're done with your business there.
[Weiss looks so disappointed, why is this happening? But time is ticking and she doesn't want to be late. She huffs.]
Ugh. Fine... but only because I don't have time for this right now! [Besides jet ride sounds like fun but she's not admitting it after all of that!]
[So she takes that shark ride to the island where she's supposed to be soon, takes one of those Stoutland taxis too and walks the rest of the way, arriving there later than ...
This guy who is already there. Weiss narrows her eyes. Great, even more good news to her day because now she feels like she's late! She's not late, she's there about just in time despite all the troubles in the way! So, that's what her possible rival looks like or whatever they'll end up being, she assumes rival based on ... Them both being here right now! Because surely that's the only end result that there can be from it. Weiss walks closer, crossing her arms before she speaks. Hey, maybe she could introduce herself!]
So. For the record, I'll be taking the water-type.
[...Or she could start with something like that before they even know each other's names, that's certainly something for him to get used to if he'll run to her often. And yes, water-type is her thing even if it's unfortunately not going to be a Piplup here!]
[Weiss's declaration snaps Athrun out of his thoughts. He's surprised; surely he still would have heard this girl approach? The fact that he didn't is a testament to how lost in his own thoughts he was. He turns his head toward her.]
Huh? Um, well.
[For the record, Athrun has no problems letting Weiss take the Water-type. He's never had much interest in Water-type Pokémon; he has always favored Fire, Electric, and Flying-types the most. As well as red Pokémon (which caused a lot of overlap with Fire-types). However...]
...Nice to meet you, too?
[...He's also a little bemused by her "greeting."]
