[ She's smiling a bit herself, though after a few moments she shakes her head. ]

So... what was that other brochure that you picked up for?

[Ah, so she can smile. Good.]

Ah, that. It's for the Pokémon League Challenge. It sounded relevant, so I grabbed it.

Looks like there's some kind of hierarchy among trainers here. Maybe if we can work our way to the top, we'll be able to get some answers.

... Huh. That makes some sense. But I wonder how it works...

[ Part of her wants to go take a look at the brochure, but she's not sure if there's going to be enough information there to make a lot of sense. ]

... Speaking of how that works, does everything here revolve around pokémon? I didn't really see any cars or anything.

[Athrun shrugs.]

It kind of seems that way, doesn't it? So far all the roads I've seen have been dirt. For now, we should either get used to walking a lot or find Pokémon large enough to ride.

[He seems to be pretty confident that such Pokémon exist. After all, if they didn't, then there'd be a pretty big need for cars.]

And on that note, perhaps getting some portable camping gear.

[ Yeah. All of that was definitely something they needed to work out. Now the best question on how to do that was... how?

Yukari sighs, leaning up against the wall. ]

Well, hopefully any place that's hiring here isn't going to think about trying to do a background check. Somehow I don't think one of those would go well for us.

Considering that, as far as this world goes, we have no background? Naturally. Honestly, if there's a better way to get money, I'd rather pursue that.

... What better way could there possibly be? It's not like there's a lot of legal options.

[ At least, back home. Unless they just managed to get lucky and find some sort of job that paid without asking too many questions... but that was probably not on the side of legal that she wanted. ]

I don't know. But if this League Challenge is a legitimate way of going about things here, then there has to be some way to earn money in spite of constant travel. They wouldn't offer something like this if there wasn't one.

... Yeah, I guess. It'd probably be difficult to use a bank account with someone who's going everywhere all over the place. [ For all she knew, this place didn't even have anything like the internet. ]

Does it say where we need to go to look into it? Or are we just going to have to ask everyone until we get an answer?

I skimmed it already. Part of the requirement is challenging the gyms across the region. There's a gym here in Viridian City. We could start looking around there.

... Well, they did call it a challenge.

[ But that really was super vague. It could be anything really. ]

But yeah, that's as good of a plan as any. It's not like we have any other idea of what to do right now? We should go talk to whoever's there tomorrow.

I agree. In the meantime, we should eat and rest up. Today's been a long day.

Yeah. And somehow I get the feeling tomorrow's going to be even longer.

[ She basically just flops down on her back after that. Sure, they needed to eat, but actually getting food might be a problem unless Athrun noticed something she hadn't. ]

Anyway, we do seem to have a little bit of money that's accepted here. We could see if there's somewhere cheap we can go for food. It's a city; I'm sure there's something nearby.

Yeah. That's... good. A bit surprising, but it's definitely better than nothing.

[ Though actually knowing just how much they had would be nice too. But... figuring that out would take time. ]

Want to go look around and try to find something now?

[Athrun opens his mouth to speak, but he's preempted by his stomach letting out a loud growling noise. His cheeks turn red.]

...Er. Well.

[ That got a small laugh out of Yukari, and she soon shifted herself so that she was sitting back up. ]

Okay, I guess that answers that question. Let's go. And after we eat, we should go find something for the pokémon too. I'm sure they have to be getting hungry too.

I agree. They've gone at least as long without food as we have.

... Actually, maybe we should try to see if we can get them something to eat first. I mean, they were fighting against all those pokémon for us.

Yeah, that's also a good point. We did all the walking, but they did all the battling.

[He takes his Charmander's Poké Ball off his belt and fiddles with it a little bit.]

I'm also curious to see for myself the results of that treatment they got. Are they really back to full health after just a few seconds of being in that machine?

They better be. I mean, if that nurse lied to us about it I'm going to be pretty pissed at her.

[ Now if only she could summon her persona and unleash a tornado in the pokemon center... but she should wait until she knew what was going on.

So she let her Bulbasaur out of the ball... and it looked completely fine. Yukari couldn't even tell that it had been in a fight at all. ]

Wow. You really do look good as new... [ The pokemon nuzzles up against her, and she pets it. ]

... Now, I bet you're pretty hungry, aren't you?

[Athrun stares at Yukari's Bulbasaur for a moment. It really does look like it's in peak condition.]

That's...really amazing. I wonder if there's anyone around here who knows how that device works? I've never seen anything capable of doing that in my life.

[Uh-oh. He's being distracted from the previous subject.]

[ Yukari giggled while her Bulbasaur moved to climb into her lap, but then she turned to look over at Athrun and shook her head. ]

Hey, let's get them and us fed first. Then you can go off and try to find out all of the science behind that thing that I'm not going to be able to understand.

...Ah. Yes. You're right. I'm sorry. I'm simply fascinated by new technology.

[He scratches his cheek sheepishly.]

[ Yukari nods, before scooping Bulbasaur up in her arms and making it to her feet. ]

Well, I guess I'd be pretty interested in how it worked too if I had any chance of understanding how it works... Fuuka would probably be impossible to pull away from it if she were here.
