[ And she sighs, knowing that this is going to make her seem weak but... ]

Honestly? I really don't want to camp out more than I have to.

It's not so bad once you get used to it...though there's a certain comfort about an actual bed.

[Athrun peers more closely at the food he's cooking.]

From the sound of it, though, we'd best get used to it. We may have to do a lot of this while we're traveling to challenge gyms.

[ Yukari sighs, but she knows he has a point. ]

I guess. Doesn't mean I'm going to want to stay away from a bed longer than I need to though.

What are you making anyway?

Sausages.

[Since this is the Pokémon world, they're vegetarian sausages, as the label indicates. Athrun considers that a minor detail, though.]

I wanted something we could cook over a campfire. They're almost done; should be done by the time you get yourself ready to eat.

[ Yukari's not sure what to make of the whole sausage thing. On one hand, all of the fat with it would just be... ugh.

On the other, at least she was getting a lot more exercise than usual. But once she glances at the package, her thoughts change a bit. ]

Yeah, that was definitely a good idea. I'm... not even sure how'd we'd be able to cook anything else out here. Not that I'm really all that good at cooking to begin with... [ But at least she's not as bad as Fuuka. ]

As in you've never tried, or you've never been able to make it work?

[Athrun pulls out a pair of paper cups from his backpack, along with a bottle of water. The sausages would take some more time to finish cooking, so he gets other stuff set up.]

Though I don't think suspending a can of imitation meat over a fire really counts as cooking. Feels too simple for that.

Well, I can make stuff that's edible, but not really anything that actually tastes good enough that I'd want to give anyone. [ At least, when she didn't mess up. Then not even a dog would eat her food. ]

Oh. Hmm, I don't know what to say. Is it something that you want to improve at?

[He sits back for now. The sausages aren't ready quite yet.]

... Well yeah. Are you offering to teach me?

Er...that would require me to actually know something about cooking.

[Athrun looks a bit bemused at the response.]

[ Yukari laughed, leaning back a little bit. ]

Well, I guess that means I'm not going to have to worry about you complaining about my cooking when it's my turn to cook.

To be fair, it's hard to botch camping food.

[Athrun digs into his pack and pulls out some paper plates and plastic forks. He takes the can off the fire and splits the sausages.]

Case in point. Breakfast is ready.

I'm not too sure. I'm sure there's someone who'd be able to easily mess it up.

[ She might not be the one to do it, but they'd have to see after she started to cook. She takes the plate and and food, and smiles at him. ]

Anyway, thanks for taking care of breakfast for us.

[Athrun smiles back.]

Don't mention it. One of us had to. Now, let's eat. We've got a long day ahead of us.

[Athrun takes his seat and begins to munch away at the food. It's far from the best sausage he's ever had, but if it's food, he'll eat it.]

[ Yukari nods, taking a quick bite out of her food, thankful that it was something that she could eat without having to basically force it down her throat. ]

This definitely tastes good, especially for something cooked over a campfire.

I'm glad you approve. We may have to eat this regularly, after all.

[He continues to shovel sausage into his mouth. He won't leave a scrap behind, wanting to get all of the food he can in preparation for their upcoming hike.]

[ Yukari's not quite shoveling the food into her mouth, but she's not exactly planning on leaving any of it uneaten herself. She usually would be concerned about her weight, but... it's not like she isn't going to burn all of it off ]

... Well, hopefully 'regularly' doesn't translate to 'all the time' for you. It's not THAT good.

[Athrun can't help but laugh at that.]

No, it's not. But after pilot's rations, I can eat pretty much anything without complaining. I'll have to count on you to add some variety.

Well, I'll be sure to keep that in mind when we get to Pewter.

[ Seriously, sausage all the time is not good. Even sausage that wasn't actually meat.

And speaking of, with one last bite, Yukari's finally done with her food. ]

[Athrun finishes up at around the same time and throws the paper plate into the fire. There's no point in holding on to it now.]

All right. Let's get ready to leave. I'll put the fire out once we're ready to get going.

[ Yukari follows suit, feeling a little silly for not thinking of doing that to dispose of her own plate. But at least they didn't need to worry about it now. ]

Alright, though I don't think it's really going to take that long...

[ If they were in one of the towns she'd probably take longer to get ready but it's not like there's much she can do other than just, well, repack. ]

Probably not, no.

[Athrun goes into his backpack and pulls out a jug of water. He empties about a third of it in order to put out the fire once he's sure his plate has burned most of the way, then disassembles the wood (once it's cooled down) so that it isn't an obstruction.]

[ Yukari was pretty sure that Athrun had more water on him than that one jug, but even as she was watching that, she couldn't help but wonder if using that much water was a good idea. But Athrun was more knowledgeable about camping than she was, so she was okay with following his lead on that.

Either way, once he was done with that, they were off. Her hands were already resting at her hips, ready to grab her pokeball if anything decided to attack them. ]

I wonder if we're going to run into any new types of pokemon today...

Your guess is as good as mine. The guide had said that most of the Pokémon found in Viridian Forest are Bug-types, but so far it's been mostly caterpillars and cocoons. Then there was just the one Pikachu.

[Athrun walks with his hands on his backpack's straps. He doesn't look at Yukari as he talks, instead focusing on keeping an eye on their surroundings.]

So I guess that means that if we do see anything new, it'll probably be whatever comes out of those cocoons then... [ Though from what she read that really wasn't how it worked here. This place was kinda stupidly confusing even with normal things like that. ]

... And speaking of cocoons, I wonder what we're going to have to do to take care of our caterpillars once they end up becoming one of those.
