"Not in the slightest. I'm finished with work for the night." With that, he got up and walked into the kitchen. A minute later, he emerged with two glasses filled with ice.

"Here you go. Let me know if you want more as this melts."

He then returned to his seat and poured some beer into his own glass before taking a sip of it. His face muscles tightened for a second -- the bitter taste is one he knows, but isn't accustomed to.

"Relax as much as you like. I'd offer to tell you about my day, but I'm afraid it's just not that interesting." He offered an apologetic smile after saying that.

"Thank you. You're a darling." Faye took the glass gratefully, filled it with the ease of an expert, and swiftly drained most of it. She leaned further back in her seat and closes her eyes, stretching her legs out in front of her. "Hmm? I don't mind at all. I want to hear about your straight forward day. Plus how it got so much better because your gorgeous friend has dropped in for a moment." At that point she opened an eye just so that she could wink at him.

Ky raised an eyebrow, but he also couldn't help but smile. Leave it to Faye to lighten the mood when she wanted to.

Of course, it didn't help that Ky thinks Faye truly is gorgeous.

"I spent most of my day working from home. All the work was routine. I'd never want to push papers every day, but doing it every now and then is a good way to relax. You know how my schedule typically is."

Given how much responsibility Ky had to take care of in his division, it was a miracle he had time to sleep in his own bed most nights. And one can only take so many crime scenes.

Faye finally sat up and leaned closer to where Ky was sitting, sipping at her beer with her eyes on his. For some reason, she looked quite amused, and slowly smiled. "You sure know how to relax. Wish paper work was relaxing to me. Then I could quit everything and become a secretary. I could be your secretary." Of course that was said rather flirtaciously, and with a wink.

"And is paper work the only way you like to relax?"

Again, Ky smiled. He had to admit, the idea of Faye as his secretary had its appeal.

"Far from it. My absolute favorite way to relax is with a cup of delicious tea."

Faye drained what was left of her beer and leaned back lazily on her chair with the bottle dangling from her hand. "And here I come visiting with beer instead of tea..." She might be trying to sound amused, but there was a sadness in her eyes as she looked at him.

Ky took another sip of his beer. He shook his head, and gave her his best reassuring look. "I don't mind. Variety is the spice of life, it's been said. I'm perfectly happy to occasionally change something up."

"The spice of life, huh?" Faye laughed quietly, "I like the sound of that." Then she leaned forward on her chair and bit her lip, tilting her head and just looking at him, suddenly quiet and with sad, thoughtful eyes. She just looked at him for a moment or two before finally speaking up again, "You're sweet, Ky. You know that?"

Ky finished off the last of his beer, not speaking right away, either. He waited for Faye to say something else. When she did, his cheeks turned pink, but at the same time, he smiled.

"I'm happy to hear you say that." And it was true; it made him happy that Faye trusted him so much. "It does me well to see you so...well, comfortable in my home and my presence."

That blush was nice, and Faye was sure just excited to see how much blushing she could get from him. "I am comfortable..." As she said it, she realised how true that was, and how safe she felt here with him. Quite suddenly, Faye seemed to withdraw into herself, sitting back and glancing away, going quiet.

Ky noticed how Faye seemed to withdraw. Concern creased his brow, though he wasn't sure if it was just the alcohol, since he didn't drink very often. His eyes darted back down to his drink, then back to Faye.

"Is something troubling you?"

Faye slowly shook her head and turned back to Ky with a sad smile. "I'm just...tired. And glad, finally, to be somewhere where..." She took a deep breath and laughed, waving a hand, "It's just nice to be somewhere with someone who treats me with respect, that's all." Suddenly she got to her feet and stretched.

Ky remained seated, folding his hands over his lap. He watched Faye get out of her chair and stretch, a melancholy expression on his face.

"I'm sorry to hear that you've had to deal with people who don't. You deserve better than that."

Faye turned to him then, her own expression natching his, for a moment longer than she had intended. Not wanting to appear so vulnerable, she looked away and shrugged, "That's life. Shit happens. But... thank you. That's very sweet of you to say. You're a real gentleman, you know that?" Finally she let her gaze meet his again, questioning.

Ky smiled sheepishly. "I try. I'm pleased that you think so; it means I'm doing something right." Not that he had any motives for being that way; he just felt it was right.

He let Faye meet his gaze with her own, and held it. He studied her face for a moment; it served as a reminder how beautiful she was. Also it gave a little bit of insight into how her past had affected her. He didn't know the full story of her past, but he knew it weighed on her.

He did notice the questioning nature of her gaze, as well. "Would you like anything else?" In addition to an invitation for more to eat or drink, it was an invitation to ask him whatever she wanted.

Faye allowed him to hold her gaze, her own expression softening as he did so. It was just a moment or two, but she felt suddenly quite vulnerable standing there in front of him. At his question, Faye bit her lip and glanced away. She lowered herself slowly back into her chair and leaned her head back as she turned to look at him again, "Can I stay here tonight...?"

"Huh?"

That was not a question that Ky had been expecting to hear from Faye. She had a place of her own; why would she need to stay here?

However, Faye was also someone whom Ky trusted. He was sure she had her reasons.

"Ah...if that's what you want, then you're free to spend the night here."

At his initial reaction, Faye lowered her head and looked down at her feet. She chewed at her lip again and glanced over at him when he agreed. She didn't seem quite so sure though. Faye narrowed her eyes and leaned forward like she might get up, "You know what? Nevermind. I'll just head home. I don't want to get in tour way..."

"Oh! No, it's not any trouble. You wouldn't be getting in my way." Ky immediately leaped out of his chair. "You're welcome to spend the night. If anything, I'd appreciate the company."

Faye muttered quietly and put her hand over her eyes for a moment as she held them closed. She bit her lip and finally moved her hand away to look at him. Her expression was grateful, especially in that look she gave him, "If you're sure then... then I'd appreciate that too..."

"Of course. You're always welcome company, Faye. I mean it." Relieved, Ky sat down back in his chair. "And it's true. Sometimes I feel like my home is too large for one person."

Frankly, he feels lonely often when he's at home. However, he's not ready to admit such a thing.

"Well, now. Maybe it'll seem a better size for two of us." Feeling a bit better, Faye got up from the chair and stretched her arms high above her head. "So, you got something comfortable for me to change into?"

Ky responded with a blank expression on his face. "Wha -- me? Er, I don't know."

He had no women's clothing at his house; he had no reason to have any. "I, uh. I suppose I assumed I'd take you to your place to pack."

"Right." Though she didn't sound confident at all as she responded. She folded her arms beneath her chest and side glanced at the wall. "I just figured you'd have some old shirt or something I could wear..." For some reason, she didn't seem too keen on the idea of going back to her place. "But sure, why not go together and pack me some stuff, hmm? Then you can choose what you'd like me to wear." Trying to get things onto a more light hearted and joking mood.

That actually got Ky to blush a little. Choosing Faye's clothing for her felt...rather intimate. And her being such a gorgeous woman didn't help matters further, either.

"I, I'm sorry. The only old clothing I have I wear for working on home projects." Ky was always good about donating old clothing he no longer wore; being an orphan had left a mark on him when it came to helping the needy. Thus, he only kept a certain amount of old clothes to wear when he expected to get dirty.

"All right, let's go. We'll be quick. Would you like to stop for anything while we're out?"
