Faye slowly shook her head and turned back to Ky with a sad smile. "I'm just...tired. And glad, finally, to be somewhere where..." She took a deep breath and laughed, waving a hand, "It's just nice to be somewhere with someone who treats me with respect, that's all." Suddenly she got to her feet and stretched.

Ky remained seated, folding his hands over his lap. He watched Faye get out of her chair and stretch, a melancholy expression on his face.

"I'm sorry to hear that you've had to deal with people who don't. You deserve better than that."

Faye turned to him then, her own expression natching his, for a moment longer than she had intended. Not wanting to appear so vulnerable, she looked away and shrugged, "That's life. Shit happens. But... thank you. That's very sweet of you to say. You're a real gentleman, you know that?" Finally she let her gaze meet his again, questioning.

Ky smiled sheepishly. "I try. I'm pleased that you think so; it means I'm doing something right." Not that he had any motives for being that way; he just felt it was right.

He let Faye meet his gaze with her own, and held it. He studied her face for a moment; it served as a reminder how beautiful she was. Also it gave a little bit of insight into how her past had affected her. He didn't know the full story of her past, but he knew it weighed on her.

He did notice the questioning nature of her gaze, as well. "Would you like anything else?" In addition to an invitation for more to eat or drink, it was an invitation to ask him whatever she wanted.

Faye allowed him to hold her gaze, her own expression softening as he did so. It was just a moment or two, but she felt suddenly quite vulnerable standing there in front of him. At his question, Faye bit her lip and glanced away. She lowered herself slowly back into her chair and leaned her head back as she turned to look at him again, "Can I stay here tonight...?"

"Huh?"

That was not a question that Ky had been expecting to hear from Faye. She had a place of her own; why would she need to stay here?

However, Faye was also someone whom Ky trusted. He was sure she had her reasons.

"Ah...if that's what you want, then you're free to spend the night here."

At his initial reaction, Faye lowered her head and looked down at her feet. She chewed at her lip again and glanced over at him when he agreed. She didn't seem quite so sure though. Faye narrowed her eyes and leaned forward like she might get up, "You know what? Nevermind. I'll just head home. I don't want to get in tour way..."

"Oh! No, it's not any trouble. You wouldn't be getting in my way." Ky immediately leaped out of his chair. "You're welcome to spend the night. If anything, I'd appreciate the company."

Faye muttered quietly and put her hand over her eyes for a moment as she held them closed. She bit her lip and finally moved her hand away to look at him. Her expression was grateful, especially in that look she gave him, "If you're sure then... then I'd appreciate that too..."

"Of course. You're always welcome company, Faye. I mean it." Relieved, Ky sat down back in his chair. "And it's true. Sometimes I feel like my home is too large for one person."

Frankly, he feels lonely often when he's at home. However, he's not ready to admit such a thing.

"Well, now. Maybe it'll seem a better size for two of us." Feeling a bit better, Faye got up from the chair and stretched her arms high above her head. "So, you got something comfortable for me to change into?"

Ky responded with a blank expression on his face. "Wha -- me? Er, I don't know."

He had no women's clothing at his house; he had no reason to have any. "I, uh. I suppose I assumed I'd take you to your place to pack."

"Right." Though she didn't sound confident at all as she responded. She folded her arms beneath her chest and side glanced at the wall. "I just figured you'd have some old shirt or something I could wear..." For some reason, she didn't seem too keen on the idea of going back to her place. "But sure, why not go together and pack me some stuff, hmm? Then you can choose what you'd like me to wear." Trying to get things onto a more light hearted and joking mood.

That actually got Ky to blush a little. Choosing Faye's clothing for her felt...rather intimate. And her being such a gorgeous woman didn't help matters further, either.

"I, I'm sorry. The only old clothing I have I wear for working on home projects." Ky was always good about donating old clothing he no longer wore; being an orphan had left a mark on him when it came to helping the needy. Thus, he only kept a certain amount of old clothes to wear when he expected to get dirty.

"All right, let's go. We'll be quick. Would you like to stop for anything while we're out?"

Honestly, Faye didn't look thrilled at the idea of having to go back out there. She smoothed down her clothes and headed straight for the door. "Okay. Fine. Let's go."

Then she paused and glanced back at him, her stance confident but her expression more unsure. "Just... just in case. Can you bring something... a weapon? Just in case?"

Ky paused, then nodded. "One moment, please." With that, he disappeared further into the house.

A moment later, he emerged, his sword sheathed at his waist. "All right, I'm ready. I promise you, I will keep you safe."

Faye felt better the moment she saw that sword. Still, as they left and she led the way to her small apartment, Faye fell very quiet for a few moments. Finally, she felt that letting him in on what had happened might be helpful. Or at least more fair to him.

"The thing is... there were these guys... who threatened to come after me... who know where I live. And I just - I didn't want to go home... And God knows if they're still waiting for me..."

Ky felt a chill run through his body at Faye's words. He didn't sense anything yet, so it was just what she said that got to him. No wonder she had been so reluctant. If he'd known, he would have taken her to a local clothing store instead.

"Stay close." Ky reached out a hand; if Faye wished, she could hold onto it. "If you wish, we could find a store instead. We can wait until it's daytime or we have some backup."

"We could have just stayed home and made out..." Faye didn't look at him, attempting to be light hearted about all of this. She glanced at his hand and took it - judging by the way she held his hand, Faye was actually quite worried. "I'd rather just... see what's at home and get this over with..." Though she didn't sound like she was looking forward to it.

"Perhaps that would be for the best." Ky gently pulled Faye closer. "No matter what, I'll keep you safe. Trust me."

Faye just looked at him a moment or two, her chest full of warmth. But finally she looked away and sighed, "Thank you..."

Eventually they would get closer to Faye's apartment. It's not a particularly pleasant part of town, the apartments small and dark. At the end of a miserable street, Faye paused and pointed at a building, "That one's mine."

"All right."

Ky slowly drew his sword. He didn't see anybody, but he was being cautious. A few arcs of electricity danced along the blade, gathering at the tip which lit up like a flare, bathing the area in light. He then led the way toward the building that Faye lived in, keeping a firm grip on her hand.

Faye carefully makes her way towards her apartment. She followed close behind him, breathing a little harder in her fear of what she might find there. There didn't appear to be anyone threatening around, but when they reached her place at the top of the stair case it was clear that someone had been gere.

The door to her apartment was wide open. Faye gasped as she saw that her tiny, cheap place had been totally ruined - furniture broken and overturned, clothes torn and scattered everywhere. She didn't appear to have much, but what was there was ruined.

Faye pushed past Ky and ran to the small bedroom where a small safe was lying open on the bed. Faye didn't make a noise, just slowly lowered herself onto the bed as she realised that everything she had was ruined or stolen.

Ky remained silent. There was really nothing he could do here right now other than survey the damage with a heavy heart. From what he could tell, there was virtually nothing left for her.

Ky sheathed his sword and walked into the bedroom, and sat down on the bed next to Faye. The next thing he knew, though, he was wrapping his arms around her body in a hug.

"I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry."

Faye just stayed crouched over on the bed, tensing at first at Ky's touch, more out of surprise than anything else. Then she curled into a tighter ball, her voice choking a little. She stayed still for a moment or two, then cleared her throat as she tried to wriggle out, "They're gone. Let's go."
